I love to cook! It's that simple. I come from a long line of cooks and learned from the best - my mom. I live with my husband, son, and our two cats.

I also love to eat! In 2011, I found myself 100 lbs overweight and had lost part of who I was along the way. I was embarrassed for my family to be seen with me, got winded at the simplest task, constantly got sick, every shopping trip ended in tears, and I was mad at myself for not being able to get things under control. So when my mother-in-law called me and asked if I wanted to join Weight Watchers I knew it was time to take action. (Don’t hate on my mother-in-law it was a call like, “I want to join Weight Watchers and don’t want to go by myself.” not, “You’re so fat and really need to do something.”) Being a detail-oriented person, the WW system of tracking was right up my alley. The results were immediate; both inside and out. Between tracking my food intake and a moderate exercise routine, I lost 90 pounds in about 20 months. The day I got to my 90lb loss is the day I found out I was pregnant. That was one sweet day! With the same approach I was able to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight within a year.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean the food has to be boring. I enjoy cooking a variety of dishes using real ingredients. That has always been my style. I just started being more conscious of how to cut down on high fat and calorie ingredients and making smarter choices. Don’t get me wrong, I still love some junk food and eat donuts every once in awhile but I can do so knowing that 90% of the rest of the time I have made healthier choices.

Having a child, which I love to pieces, doesn't leave much time for hobbies. But since we have to eat, and I love to cook, I thought it would be fun to share what I make on Instagram. And then I thought it would be nice to have a blog. So that’s how this whole thing got started.  The recipes I share are things I have cooked myself. Photographed myself. And eaten myself. I love recreating recipes and putting my own twist on them or changing parts of them to suit my preferences. Other times I might have a blurry vision of something I’d like to make and go in the kitchen and try to make it happen. So don't be afraid, get in the kitchen and cook something! I’m here to help.
